Professor Kirk is the new Chair of the Academic Board, following the retirement of the previous Chair, Professor Rosie Wickert.
Professor Kirk was President of RMIT Vietnam, following a lengthy period as Pro Vice-Chancellor Students and Vice President of RMIT Melbourne. Prior to this, Professor Kirk was Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at UTS and, earlier, Associate Dean (Coursework Programs). She was elected Chair of the Academic Board at UTS and was a member of the UTS Council.
Professor Kirk is also a Fellow of the Australian Library and Information Association and a Distinguished Alumna of the University of Canberra.

Mr Murphy has 20 years experience with UTS Insearch. He joined UTS Insearch Language Centre in 1992, teaching Indonesian language and coordinating teaching and curriculum development in Asian and European Languages. Subsequently, he took on the role of project manager for offshore delivery of English language programs.
In 2000, Mr Murphy was appointed Head of Marketing Insearch Limited, a merger of three previously separate entities. In that role, Mr Murphy was responsible for developing the UTS Insearch brand and positioning and implementing channel management systems, before taking on the role of Managing Director in September 2007.
Mr Murphy’s background is in linguistics and Indonesian and Malayan Studies, having undertaken research at the University of Sydney, before living and working in Jakarta from 1986 to 1989. He has been a member of the St James Ethics Centre since 1997. Mr Murphy has also been undertaking leadership development and group relations programs with the Australian Institute of Socio-Analysis and Tavistock Institute (UK), over the past fifteen years.
Dean of Studies

Mr Laurence was appointed to the role of Dean of Studies in 2008. Mr Laurence is a senior academic manager with substantial experience in higher education and pathway educational management. Before taking up his current position at UTS Insearch, Mr Laurence held the position of Associate Dean, Teaching and Learning, in the Faculty of Design Architecture and Building at UTS. Mr Laurence holds overall responsibility for the delivery and quality assurance of all UTS Insearch pathway programs both locally and internationally.
Associate Professor Rob Jarman
Associate Dean (Learning & Teaching)

Rob Jarman is an Associate Professor in the School of Systems, Management and Leadership in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at UTS. He gained a Certificate in Electrical Engineering at Sydney Technical College, while completing an electrical drafting apprenticeship. He then followed this with a B.E Electrical (Hon), a GradCertH. Ed, and PhD (Engineering) at UTS. His thesis title was: Alternate exciter supply for use on synchronous alternators in micro hydroelectric applications.
Rob is currently the Associate Dean Learning & Teaching. He chairs the UTS Teaching & Learning Committee, a sub-committee of Academic Board. He has been a past Director of Undergraduate Programs (Engineering), coordinator for the Faculty Capstone Project subjects and Head of Electrical Engineering Program.
Rob’s research is in community development through appropriate and sustainable technology transfer. Rob has extensive experience in working with remote rural communities in all provinces of the Solomon Islands where seven micro-hydroelectric systems have been installed. Rob also researches and publishes in Engineering Education.

Maxine believes in the importance of ethics and its role in professional life, including the legal profession. Maxine’s teaching and research has a focus on the philosophy and practice of ethics, including the connection between legal education and ethics. Her passion has led her to contribute proactively to the legal profession and legal education through her teaching, research and community engagement.
Maxine’s background in legal practice enabled her to take up a clinical practitioner position in the Faculty’s Practical Legal Training (PLT) program. Initially a part-time tutor, she has been a full-time staff member since 2004. She was Program Head of PLT from 2009 to 2011. Maxine currently serves as an academic member of the NSW Bar Associations' Professional Conduct Committee and as a member of the Legal Qualifications Committee under the jurisdiction of the NSW Legal Profession Admission Board. She has previously served on the NSW Law Society's Costs Working Committee, where she contributed to the Costs Guidebook, a practical resource for solicitors. Maxine has made submissions to several reviews, including advocates immunity, the Australian Solicitors’ Conduct Rules, the PLT Competencies and the academic requirements for admission.
Maxine expanded her teaching to include the core ethics subject and, on occasions, the dispute resolution subjects. Her commitment to legal education and the student experience is reflected in her roles as Director of Students, First Year Experience Coordinator and Student Ombud. Maxine has researched in the areas of legal practice and the profession, law and education and legal education. Her contribution to these areas is practice-based and collaborative. It includes: the Good Practice Guide for the TLO (Threshold Learning Outcome) on ‘Ethics and professional responsibility’ (2011, co-authored); chapters on the ‘Resolution of Student Grievances within Universities’ in Higher Education and the Law (2015, co-authored); and, chapters on ‘Resilience and Wellbeing Programs in PLT’ in Promoting Law Student and Lawyer Wellbeing in Australia and Beyond (forthcoming, co-authored).
Professor Deborah Bunker

Professor Bunker is a Professor of Business Information Systems at the University of Sydney Business School. She is immediate past President, Australian Council of Professors and Heads of IS, current Chair, International Federation of Information Processing Working Group 8.6 on Innovation, Diffusion, Transfer and Implementation of IS and is the Leader of the Interoperability in Extreme Events Research Group (IEERG) at the University of Sydney.
Professor Bunker has wide-ranging information systems (IS) management experience within industry, gained in many projects within the Insurance, Finance, Information Technology, Transport and Government sectors as a Systems Analyst, Project Manager, Product Manager, Human Resources Manager and Senior Consultant. She has extensive teaching and academic curricula development and program management experience over a wide range of IS subject areas. She has also successfully attracted and supervised a large number of research students.
Professor Bunker is currently leading a major research project in disaster management. This project aims to identify and enhance information systems factors that impact emergency services agency collaboration. Research outputs from this project are specifically focused upon assisting government, business and communities to collaborate for crisis management purposes by improving: information and process design; IS risk and inter-organisational management practices; and, management of current and emerging information technologies.
Dr Judith O'Callaghan

Dr O'Callaghan is Director, Postgraduate Research in the Faculty of the Built Environment, UNSW Australia. She previously held the positions of Senior Curator of Contemporary Decorative Arts and Design at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney and Curator of Decorative Arts at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne.
Dr O'Callaghan is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney and of the Heritage & Endangered Houses Advisory Committee, Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales.
Associate Dean of Studies

Sally Payne has worked at UTS Insearch for more than 18 years and has a long history of achievements including, co-creating the first UTS Insearch Diploma of IT. Prior to becoming the Associate Dean of Studies, Sally was the Program Manager for UTS Foundation Studies and the Diploma of IT. She was responsible for the academic management of the pathway diploma program, and management of the UTS Foundation Studies program.
Sally has extensive experience in IT after her years spent as a senior manager in a blue chip utility company, running her own IT strategy consulting company and working for the NSW state government.
Sally is Chair of the Academic Teaching and Learning committee and leads the Quality Assurance program for UTS Insearch courses. Sally oversees the scholarship and professional development committee for academic staff. She is also responsible for the Study Success Advisers area and the learning support programs.

Mr Cunningham lectures in the Diploma of Business at UTS Insearch and is the subject coordinator for Economics for Business. Mr Cunningham has over ten years' teaching experience in the areas of economics, management and finance, both in the higher education sector and the broader finance industry.
Mr Cunningham is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and the principal of his own financial planning practice.

Staff representative, Business Subject Co-ordinator & Learning Technology Co-ordinator UTS Insearch
Mr Tran lectures and tutors in the Diploma of Business and Foundation Studies at UTS Insearch, and is the subject co-ordinator for Business Statistics. Mr Tran is also involved in various subjects in the UTS Business School. He was awarded the School’s Undergraduate Prize for Excellence in Teaching in recognition of his teaching.
In his capacity as Learning Technology Coordinator across academic programs, Mr Tran’s primary interest is exploring the intersection between technology and education. This includes, bringing innovative approaches to teaching and learning practices by integrating meaningful technology in learning environments.
